Apprehending Promises by Faith

Faith is at the core of our lives as Christians.  When you run across a promise in Scripture, how do you respond to it?  Do you want to inherit this promise, or do you think, "that's not for me."  I wonder how many promises Christians don't receive because of their unbelief.
