McGuinness result due this afternoon

MEPs have voted on whether to approve Mairead McGuinness as the EU Commissioner for Financial Stability.

 

The result will be announced in the European Parliament shortly. (13.15)  

 

McGuinness was nominated for the role following the resignation of Phil Hogan.

 

She’s expected to receive the backing of MEPs and will be formally appointed in the coming days.
