Hi, My name is Sara Dimerman, also known as HelpMeSara. I’m likely one of the only psychologists you’ll meet that has an undergraduate degree in Radio and Television. However, soon after graduating from Ryerson, I began my journey towards obtaining a Masters level degree in Assessment and Counselling from the University of Toronto.
For more than thirty years I have been counselling individual adults, teens, parents, couples and families out of my office in York Region, Ontario. In addition to seeing clients in person, I also offer telecounselling – on the phone or online. I’m registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and also a member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals. So, my fee is covered by extended health insurance, if you have.
Over the years I have helped clients through:
periods of depression. anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder
workplace, school and home life stressors
complex family and sibling relationships
difficult dynamics as a couple, including issues around intimacy, sexual relationships and infidelity
separation and divorce
parenting children, teens and adults
low self esteem and confidence concerns
career changes, retirement and other life transitions
If you have no extended health coverage, are experiencing complex social and medical health issues and live in Northern or Western York Region, you may be able to access mental health and other services at no charge. The Vaughan Community Health Centre has created PACT (People Accessing Care Teams) to make this possible.Your family physician or nurse practitioner would need to make the referral. I am proud to be working with VCHC by offering psychological services through PACT to patients in need – in office, over the telephone and online.
Please contact their office at 905-303-8490 or visit their website vaughanchc.com for more information.
Aside from my counselling practise, I am fortunately able to blend my interest in people and psychology with my passion for media and writing.
I frequently appear on radio and television and am quoted in magazines and newspapers as a parenting and relationship expert. I am also the host of the Help Me Sara show, heard Monday afternoons at 3pm EST on Sauga960am News Talk Radio. On this show, other mental health care experts and I discuss topics that are relevant and relatable.
I write books related to issues that are often raised by my clients. My first of five books was published in 2008 and my most recent, in 2019. More information about these books and how to find them can be found on my home page.
I look forward to helping you.
