Dr. Jodie Liu's introduction

Dr. Jodie Liu is a personal cash flow coach (also known as Spending Planner) who is very passionate about increasing financial literacy in the community. After finding herself in two back-to-back abusive relationships, she ended up $400,000 in debt and living in a women’s refuge with only the suitcase of tattered clothes she left with.

Between the two relationships, Jodie lost everything she had spent her life working towards, including her career, reputation, friends, money, home, and car, but thankfully not her family. The largest price she paid was losing her pregnancy in her first abusive relationship.

After leaving these relationships, Jodie began the journey to rebuild her life and her finances, which she did successfully. She felt like one of the lucky ones because she had the financial knowledge and experience to know exactly what she needed to do to get her life back. She dug herself out of a financial nightmare, negotiated, worked, and within four years was completely debt free and able to start afresh.

Jodie is a certified member of the Spending Planner’s Institute and CPA Australia. She also holds three Accounting degrees, including a Ph.D.

She is a published author in several international refereed accounting journals. Jodie has been working with budgets for 20 years and teaching accounting for over 17 years in the University sector.

It is her mission to empower women and give them the confidence to take control of their future by teaching them how to understand and manage their finances.
