So Monster's Ball (2001) is a movie about romance and not about boxing, but Halle Berry won the Academy Award for best actress as the first Black woman to do so. Million Dollar Baby (2004) is, in fact about boxing, and once again, Hilary Swank won the Academy Award for best actress. She was not really the first of anything in this regard.
