Herrnstein received his Ph.D. in psychology at Harvard where he had taught since 1958 and recently held the Edgar Pierce Chair in Psychology until he passed away shortly before the publication of THE BELL CURVE. Charles Murray, a graduate of Harvard who received his Ph.D. in Political Science from MIT, is the author of Losing Ground: American Social Policy 1950-1980.
