Makayla Andrews is a trailblazing heavy equipment diesel technician and the first female apprentice at her company. While she started in the shop, she now works in coal mines, construction sites, pipelines, and other tough, male-dominated environments, fixing massive machinery and challenging stereotypes with skill and humor. Growing up on a farm, her love for tinkering turned into a passion for engines that led her to take shop classes in high school, initially to become more self-reliant. That practical start quickly evolved into a career she loves, excelling in her field and inspiring others with her hard work, resilience, and infectious excitement for big engines.
