Today (17th August) the Church in Ireland celebrates the feast of Our Lady of Knock. Knock is a village in the west of Ireland where Our Lady appeared on the 21st August 1879, along with St. Joseph, St. John the Evangelist, a choir of angels and, most importantly, the Lamb of God Who was on an altar at the centre of the apparition. The event was viewed at the gable of the parish Church by many locals for a few hours. The Catholic Church fully approves of this apparition.
The shrine that stands there today has been visited by Pope John Paul II in 1979 as well as Pope Francis in 2018. In 2021, the shrine received International status from the Vatican.
Fr. Patrick Cahill discusses the treasure of Knock.
