Welcome to The Barrier Breakdown: Disrupting Mental Health!
This week we are joined by Steve Oneill, the Open Note specialist in behavioral and mental health, faculty at the center of bioethics at Harvard medical school, and adjunct assistant professor at Simmons university. He is interested in how the transparency of Open Note writing in behavioral health can foster trust and partnership, patient engagement, and can even destigmatize mental health.
As a component of the Cures Act, Open Notes was supposed to go live last November, but now it's beginning on April 5th! Listen in to find out the timetable for these changes, the scope of the notes that will be made open, and the ethical and legal concerns of omissions.
