MEPs in the European Parliament have called for Europol to investigate the murders of a Slovakian journalist and his fiancée. In a debate in parliament yesterday, the MEPs said the EU should better protect its journalists and whistle-blowers. The investigative journalist Ján Kuciak was shot dead in an attack in his home last month. His fiancée, Martina Kušnírová was also murdered in the attack. Mr Kuciak had been investigating government corruption when he was killed. The Slovak MEP Ivan Štefanec says his murder needs to be fully investigated.
