Trust is inextricably linked into faith. One does not exist without the other.

Trust is based upon knowing that another is trustworthy and this is learned by evidence, either personally or from others who we know can be trusted.

Jesus Christ is trustworthy and has proven He can be trusted. The word of God is trustworthy and we can learn trust from His words.
