Rise!
Justin Hawley a friend on Facebook will post all kinds of cool stories of people going against the grain in life and taking a stand. And every time he posts one of these he titles it “Rise”.
I like that, it makes me realize that we need to stand out as followers of Christ.
So lets talk about dead things…
John 11 Rise! Lazarus
V. 23 Your brother will rise again!
40 Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” 41 So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, thank you for hearing me. 42 You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me.” 43 Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!”
45 Many of the people who were with Mary believed in Jesus when they saw this happen.
Luke 7:Jesus Raises a Widow’s Son
11 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12 As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
14 Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” 15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16 They were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.” 17 This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.
Jarius daughter
Jesus arrived at the house to find mourners wailing outside. When he said she was not dead but sleeping, they laughed at him. Jesus went in, took her by the hand and said, "My child, get up." Her spirit returned and she raised up to life again. Jesus ordered her parents to give her something to eat but not to tell anyone what had happened.
Luke 8:49–56
Acts 9:36 Peter raises Tabitha and many people believed
People notice dead things… but they really notice dead things when they come back to life.
Whats dead in your life?
Marriage?
Job?
Finances?
Health?
Family Relationship?
A goal, or dream?
What if I told you Gods ok when our stuff dies… Because he wants to take credit for when it comes back to life.
Every one if these stories is about people recognizing Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
I think many times satan tricks us into thinking that when something dies… well it must not have been a God thing.
Did you notice that in all these stories words were spoken to that which was dead. The words were basically “Rise”.
Isaiah 60 is where we get the traditional childrens song, Rise and shine and give God the glory glory!
Well lets start practicing that today as men. What ever is dead, call it out in faith and tell it to rise.
