Morning Report 2 Aug 21: US sharemarkets were weaker on Friday

Shares in Amazon fell 7.6% on softer earnings and sales guidance. Other earnings results were mixed. The Dow Jones index fell by 149 points or 0.4%. The S&P 500 index lost 0.5%. And the Nasdaq index fell by 106 points or 0.7%. Over the week the Dow and S&P 500 fell by 0.4%; and the Nasdaq fell by 1.1%. Over July, the Dow rose 1.3%; the S&P 500 rose 2.3%; and the Nasdaq rose 1.2%.
