Tech Sense 101: Cell Phones and Social Media

In this second episode of Tech Sense 101, Jeff and Rochelle discuss the impact of social media and cell phone usage on teenagers, sharing eye-opening statistics and highlighting the importance of prayerful decisions when it comes to introducing these specific modes of technology to our children. Tune in for practical guidance on navigating the complexities of technology in today's world.  While we do not need to demonize these types of technology, we must remain aware of their dangers and equip our children with wisdom so that they can use cell phones and social media wisely and in a way that honors Jesus.

• Heavy users of social media increase their risk of depression by 27%. (childmind.org)
• Teens who spend 3 or more hours a day on electronic devices were 28% more likely to get less than seven hours of sleep. (childmind.org)
• Teens who don’t sleep enough are more than twice as likely to report higher levels of depressive symptoms (31% vs. 12%). (childmind.org)
• Teens who sleep less than seven hours a night are also 68% more likely to have at least one risk factor for suicide. (childmind.org)
