47: Christine Harmes Hika - How the Non-Borrowing Spouse is Now Protected

When people hear about reverse mortgages, they usually think of a scam. A lot of the negativity surrounding reverse mortgages comes from how they were constructed in the past. Just in the last ten years, there have been a lot of new regulations introduced that better set the borrower up for success.  Now, a lot of people are just uneducated on how they work, so they have the same old assumptions.

 

Christina Harmes Hika is a top producing, certified reverse mortgage professional. She started off in real estate and says handing people the keys to their first house was so rewarding.  However, she has since found that changing people’s lives through reverse mortgages is even more rewarding.  Christina says that with 83% of retired homeowners wealth being tied up in home equity, reverse mortgages can be a great financial tool. Through coaching, Christina hopes to educate loan officers, realtors, and financial planners on the pros of reverse mortgages.
