British political system doesn’t care 1 Iota about Ireland – Carthy

The Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy is warning there can be no rowing back on the backstop deal.

Theresa May is expected to try to get the EU to give her some reassurances on the Irish backstop to sweeten her Brexit deal for the British parliament.

She’ll meet the other EU leaders in Brussels today as they attend an EU summit over the next two days.

Matt Carthy says the EU must stand firm on the backstop deal and that it can’t give in to UK political pressure.
