Morning Report 12 Nov 21: US sharemarkets mixed with tech shares outperforming in subdued holiday trading

US sharemarkets were mixed on Thursday. Materials, energy and technology sectors drove the gains. Shares in Walt Disney fell 7.1% after the latest earnings update disappointed investors. Shares in Rivian Automotive rallied a further 22.1% on its second day of trade. Shares in Tapestry Inc rose 8.4% after the Coach handbag maker lifted its annual sales forecast. At the close of trade the Dow Jones index was down by 159 points or 0.4%. The S&P 500 index was higher by 0.1%. And the Nasdaq index was up by 82 points or 0.5%.
