Gordon D’Arcy: Episode 160

Despite being an integral part of the historic successes of the Leinster and Ireland squads, Gordon D’Arcy’s journey has certainly seen periods of both glory and struggle. This week Gordon explains how it felt to be called up by the Ireland squad just before he sat the Leaving Cert (14:00) and the difficult three years which followed (23:00) during which he had to endure the sobering experience of having to listen to the honest perceptions his teammates had of him (32:00).

Gordon gives an insight into the dramatic shift his life has recently taken as he now works a 60 hour week for a top financial firm with a young baby at home (57:00). We also learn which former coach Gordon ranks above Joe Schmidt (14:00), why he believes you can’t talk rugby to a journeyman (27:00), and that he doesn’t take kindly to being compared to Wayne Rooney (4:00).
