The
feeding of the multitude is probably the most well known of all of
Jesus’ miracles and the only one which appears in all 4 gospels. Matthew
says that there were “five thousand men, besides women and children”
Matt 14:21. The size of the crowd emphasizes the magnitude of the
miracle, and perhaps that is why it is recorded in all four gospels. It
made an indelible impression on the hearts of all four gospel writers,
that they never forgot it.
As we consider this miracle, we
discover that He is the source of supernatural provision for every need
of our life physically and spiritually, and He eagerly stands ready to
meet us at the point of our need, but sometimes we need help in
recognizing our need, before we can experience our miracle.
