AM Report 3 Mar 18: Aussie markets set to start weaker after US trade concerns mount

US sharemarkets remained volatile on Monday with technology stocks faring the worst. Shares in Amazon fell by 5.2% after President Trump issued more negative tweets on the company. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was down by 459 points or 1.9% after earlier being down by 759 points. On the Thursday before Easter the Dow had risen by 255 points. The S&P 500 index fell by 2.2% on Monday while the Nasdaq fell by 193 points or 2.7%.
