Morning Report 20 Jan 22: ASX set for flat start despite Wall St slide

US sharemarkets were weaker on Wednesday. Positive quarterly reports supported sentiment including reports from UnitedHealth (up 0.3%), Procter & Gamble (up 3.4%), Bank of America (up 0.4%) and Morgan Stanley (up 1.8%). But jitters about higher interest rates remain. The Dow Jones index closed near session lows, down by 340 points or 1.0%. The S&P 500 index fell by 1.0%. And the Nasdaq index lost 167 points or 1.2%.
