Desperation, comes from not receiving something God gave you in the moment that he gave it to you to receive. So you're feeling desperate, You didn't receive what He came to present to you. The Bitterness that Simon (The sorcerer) is feeling, I don't have what I need is because something was lacking. But, it's not lacking because God didn't supply it; but because Simon didn't receive what had already been supplied. So that leads to bitterness, and then that bitterness causes defilement, which now places him in bondage to iniquity; because Simon's thinking he's got to meet his own needs, which God has already supplied.
