Marnie Barranco – Conscious Parents, Conscious Kids

It’s funny to me to find myself in a roll I did not think would be a part of my life in this lifetime. I thought parenting was something that had passed me by and truthfully I had never really felt like I missed something.

I was happy with the life I had chosen and where it had all taken me.

It was then I met a man who is kind and adds to my life in ways I could not imagine. The only caveat is he has a teenager that still lives at home.

Who knew she would be such a gift. And I am so grateful for all she teaches me.

Recently I found myself being triggered by things she was doing or not doing. And then I found myself acting more like my dad, a control freak of magnitude.

I knew this wasn’t creating greater and yet I had the hardest time stopping because I was taught parents are supposed to have the answers and that we show we care through control.

Well I don’t know about you, but I found out that doesn’t really work out that well.

I have my points of view, she goes into resistance and justifies her points of view and the whole household is unhappy.

What if there was another way?

What if it all was just an interesting point of view?

What if it really wasn’t worth the fight to be right and there was a way we could all win and nobody has to lose?

When I am willing to be in question, a whole new world of possibilities opens for all of us.
