Morning report 13 Feb 19 ; Stocks advance as a Government shutdown is avoided

S sharemarkets were up by more than 1% on Tuesday. US Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell said the US economy was growing at a "solid pace" and said that the probability of recession isn't at all elevated. Investors watch the US-China trade talks and talks to avert another US government shutdown. With an hour of trade to go the Dow Jones index was up by 380 points or 1.5%. The S&P500 index was up by 1.4%. And the Nasdaq index was higher by 107 points or 1.5%.
