MEPs will vote today on the future composition of the European Parliament post Brexit. The exit of the British MEPs will see the Parliament shrink from seven hundred and fifty one (751) MEPs to seven hundred and five (705). It’s proposed that Ireland should gain two extra MEP seats once a proportion of the British seats have been re-distributed. MEPs are also going to vote on proposals for transnational EU electoral lists which will make up the entire territory of the European Union. The Sinn Fine MEP Matt Carthy says that’s a preposterous idea.
