The documentary offers a rare look into a 1400-year-old Buddhist tradition and the practitioners struggling to preserve a legacy in a rapidly changing Japan. Yujiro has made a film that would make Werner Herzog proud in it's ability to contrast the woodcarvers passion for craft up against dominant contemporary culture .
