Chuck Morgan was on his way downtown to pick up his secretary, Carole Curtis. Lately, she had been involved in welfare work and had just attended a meeting with disabled veterans of the Korean war. Carole is telling Chuck all about her meeting, but Chuck's mind is on the latest crime spree in Los Angeles. The latest series of crimes was unusual, due to the fact that the unknown perpetrator left no clues at all. No telltale cigarette stubs, no strand of hair or thread from a torn garment, nothing. A few minutes later, Chuck and Carole reach the studio. Chuck pulls his car into the into a loading zone to let Carol out. He suddenly sees Pappy Mansfield, owner of the radio station, coming out of the building, looking concerned. Pappy says "Hey Chuck, wait a minute". Chuck says "Hi Pappy, what's wrong?" Pappy says "Get out to North Hollywood as fast as you can. There's been a murder. Police Lieutenant Bill Meggs is positive it's your mystery criminal". Pappy gave them the address to a two-story house on Cling Street. It was late afternoon when Chuck and Carole arrived. There were two squad cars in front of the house. The officer on guard at the front door waved them inside. They went up a flight of stairs and found Lieutenant Meggs in a room at the end of the hall. Meggs says "Hi Chuck, Hello Carole. Thought you two would be along soon". Chuck says "It's finally happened". Meggs says "Yep. This one's as bad as the others". Chuck asks "Well, what makes you so sure it's the work of the mystery criminal?" Meggs says "Same deal. No clues, nothing to go on". Chuck asks "Any fingerprints?" Meggs says "None at all".
