US Market Close 20 Dec 16: US sharemarkets rose on the Fed’s upbeat picture of the economy

US sharemarkets rose on Monday as the speech by Fed Chair Janet Yellen, painted a relatively upbeat picture of the US economy. The Dow Jones index was higher by 40 points or 0.2 per cent. The S&P 500 index was higher by 0.2%, while the Nasdaq rose by 20 points or 0.4%.
