Doubting Data-gathering Thomas

The disciple Thomas was not unlike the rest of the disciples, who did not believe that Jesus rose from the dead until they saw him for themselves. In John 20:19-31 all of the disciple, including Thomas, needed to see to believe. Pastor Phil Kniss re-framed this story to show that it is about God taking action to provide what was necessary to bolster faith. Jesus gave to each disciple what they needed to come to faith. Jesus wanted his disciples to believe, to trust him, to be faith-full. Today we have a variety of needs in order to bring us to faith. Pastor Phil pointed out that even with our differing needs, God continues to take action to bring us to faith.
