I've noticed for some doctors this is a really big issue and they don't get what they truly deserve.
First: you need to get yourself into the right “mindset.” To do that you should realize that there's a huge demand for physician services across all specialties. So your skills are extremely valuable.
Second: you need to do your homework before you step into negotiation. Make sure you talk to your colleagues working locum and check out my site where I reveal real-life locum hospitalist rates.
Third: Always aim at the higher than average pay rate.
Four: Every locum assignment is different, so make sure you ask the recruiter as many questions as possible about what is offered to know what you are facing.
Five: Justify you pay rates using the "pain points"
