A woman visiting a quaint, small town happens upon a charming local bookstore brimming with warmth and history. She soon learns that the lovely older couple that owns the bookstore nearly lost their business when disaster struck, but were saved through the initiative of a kindhearted townsperson and the army of people who joined in the cause.
Sound like the plot of a Hallmark Christmas Movie? It should, because it is. But it’s also true… and Candy happened to stumble across this real-life story during her recent trip to Franklin, Tennessee!
Yes, Candy’s visit took a fun turn when she discovered that the charming bookstore owned by Joel and Carol Tomlin, Landmark Booksellers, was the inspiration for Karen Kingsbury’s book “The Bridge,” which was subsequently developed into a two-part Hallmark Christmas Movie starring Faith Ford and Ted McGinley as the Tomlin couple.
Join us for this fun episode where you will not only learn more about the phenomenon of the wildly popular and sentimental Hallmark Christmas Movies, but also hear the heart-warming true story that inspired both a book and a two-part movie. And what happened AFTER the movie aired may be the most surprising and inspiring part of all! *A huge thank you to Joel Tomlin for sharing a small portion of his story via audio clips.
