The representatives from ICCS and the Sami people agrees, as this podcast is about the importance of international networking and coming together. It is also about the value of spending time in nature. Sacredness becomes simple; Listen and learn.
The young international traveler, Jacob Moss, meets Per Inge Østmoen.
The two are picturing, in broad strokes, not only huge challenges – but also emphasizing love, compassion and cooperation as always being stronger than competition, anger and predation.
They urge us to spend more time in natural ecosystems, to watch some fish swim, to look at the snails. Something inside us might change.
The pod starts withJacob explaining about his travels. He is from UK and in his twenties. For fire months he is traveling Europe meeting up with different indigenous peoples and people from nature-based approaches. That is practitioners of ancient and nature based spiritual traditions. As devoted to these old sacred traditions, he is representing International Center for Cultural Studies (ICCS) as a volunteer.
Per Inge Østmoen, is, among other things are very active in Motvind, an organization started I 2019 in Norway, fighting negative aspects of the windpower development.
Here is Jacobs own introduction: "My I have been working on aproject to meet and understand naturebased cultures around Europe for the last three months. At university I studied Anthropology with my Undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology and my MSc in Ethnobotany, which focuses on the cultural use of plants. Since that time I have become more involved in volunteerwork. My religious background is eclectic, being raised in the UK in a house with nonspecific Pagan and naturebased leanings and later beginning to learn about Dharmic cultures finding Hinduism particularly inspiring. I was not formally involved in any organization or group until around three years ago when I attended the ICCS One Tree Gathering, which brings together Hindus and Druids in the UK. For three years now I have been involved in the work of the International Centre for Cultural Studies (ICCS) particularly in the UK, attending their meetings and becoming a volunteer two years ago when I helped out with the online Global Conference. Their aim is to connect and revitalize ancient cultures with my project sitting within the remit of this work. I have thus been volunteering as a global fellow for these months and have met many inspiring people along the way. Feel free to contact me at jacobmoss259@outlook.com or visit the ICCS website."
His travels then being part of a wider project to revitalize and connect traditions around the world. This is urgent, as the organization states on its webpage, but ancestral systems provide knowledge and understanding of the spiritual and physical relationship with nature (and sacred sites). In January next year there will be an 8th international global conference & gathering of elders in Assam in India.
