EU Member States will have to generate almost a third of their energy needs using renewables, by 2030.
New targets for renewable energy were agreed in the early hours of this morning, at a meeting at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
In addition, the transport sector will face a target of 14 per cent, which includes incentives for electric vehicles and advanced biofuels.
