Luke 2:52: KJV And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. We all want to grow, but how often do we actually take steps in the right direction. Jesus grew intentional with His mind, choices, spirit and community. While Jesus is God, He was also man with His human nature highlighted in this passage, and so He took steps to develop Himself and this gives us a road map. Jesus grew in four main areas: Stature, Wisdom, Favor with men and favor with God.
1. Wisdom There is nothing more valuable to our personal growth than wisdom. Proverbs 4:7, the beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.
2. Stature Jesus grew up; Stature is quality or status gained by growth, development or achievement. People will work out your life with the materials you provide. We all know that actions have consequences and sometimes the greatest accomplishments are made by one small decision at a time. There is an old saying that, to eat an elephant, you must do so one bite at a time, or how about running a marathon? It just takes one step…then another... and another and all these results in amazing results.
3. Favor with God Jesus grew in favor with God. Jesus is much more than an example of spirituality. He is the Son of God, the Lamb of God, the Word of God, the Savior, and the Lord of the Universe. When Jesus is more than our spiritual example, He is never less. He modelled for us the two types of spiritual disciplines. ➢ Personal Discipline (done by yourself) ➢ Corporate Discipline (done with others)
4. Favor with Man Have you ever noticed that the more time you spend with someone, the more you begin acting like that person? It could be a personal style, the way they talk, or even just a general preference but the fact is, our friends can have an involuntary impact on our lives. Jesus won the favor of men by seeking the favor of God. It is not so important that man should be pleased with us as that God should. But man’s favor is more likely to be through seeking God’s favor than in any way. The best of human friends cannot win for us God’s favor.
For us to Mount Up;
1. We need to grow in wisdom
2. Grow in stature. Galatians 4:1-2, NLT Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had.
3. Favor with God: Intimacy
4. Favor with man; Fellowship #DCIKZ #MountingUp
