Mid-Session 3 Jan 17: Market kicks off 2017 at a 17-month high

The ASX 200 has kicked off the year in positive fashion, hitting a 17-month high. The ASX 200 is up 54 points or 1% to 5,719. Every sector is improving, with Energy & Consumer Staples leading the gains.
