In this week’s show, Sam will discuss how to shore up the Self when managing discomfort and the unexpected heart, body, and mind discoveries that appear as part of our personal development process.
Those of us who have a commitment to living from the ‘inside – out’, know it’s not easy because life is constantly tossing new outside experiences towards us to encourage growth and transformation.
What does, ‘You’re OK,” actually mean? And what would it mean if you weren’t? Perhaps there are specific moments when these two words can make the difference to help us keep going when times are hard. Validation, reminding ourselves who we are at the very second when we forget, and calling ourselves forward at moments of retreat – these are needed when conditions stress our basic sense of well being and security.
Do the words, “You’re OK” provide you with; any bit of real comfort, encourage us to stop panicking, or allow time to regroup and face whatever has happened? Or, does the very idea of, “You’re OK,” present us instead, with a kind of spiritual or philosophical bypass – causing, or maybe allowing, us to avoid the depth, complexity, and connection with our whole Selves?
When going inside the Self, we must gather skills, people, and ideas that support and help us stay on course as we continuously pursue our own growing edge. Words of comfort like, “You’re OK,” are one of the most common ‘go to’ phrases spoken when we most want to escape the uncomfortable.
