Mid-Session 6 May 19: Shares slide with US-China trade talks on shaky ground

The local sharemarket is starting the new week in the red as the ASX 200 falls more than 1% in early trade with every sector in the red. The index has responded negatively to a perceived breakdown in US-China trade talks. US President Donald Trump has tweeted that he is proposing to hike tariffs on a raft of Chinese imports with negotiations moving too slow.
