Outside The Chute sits down and talks with Melfort, Sask native and ISC Hall of Famer, Dean Holoien.
Deano has a long list of accomplishments that started back in Bantam, when the Melfort 222’s would win the Bantam, Midget and Junior Nationals. From there Dean would go on to have a storied career that would include 4 Canadian Senior Men’s National Titles, 2 ASA National Titles, and an ISC World Title. Deano would also represent Canada where he won a silver and bronze at the ISF World Championships.
He is a 6 time All World player at the ISC’s, 5 time All Canadian at Senior Nats, was the MVP of the 2009 ISC World’s and was inducted into the ISC Hall of Fame in 2015.
We’re gonna talk to Deano about growing up in Melfort and getting his start in the game, his first Senior Nats win with the Edmonton Express in 1999, that amazing 2009 where Kitchener would win the ISC World’s and Canadian Senior Nats, but also have a set back to hosts, Randy Frame, Chris Hopewell and the Brookfield Elks at that Nationals.
Deano was a fantastic interview and it was great to dive into his illustrious career and hear some great stories. You guys can also hear Dean, along with Keith MacIntosh and Donnie Atkinson on their podcast called 222’s Talk based out of Saskatchewan, as they do a fantastic job promoting this great game as well.
