Here’s something I’ll bet you never considered: very few people pray the same way Jesus is reported to have prayed.

Jesus didn’t beg for what he wanted, instead he:

• Appreciated what he already had
• Claimed a positive outcome
• Gave thanks for what he desired even before it showed up

To paraphrase Bishop John Shelby Spong, you shouldn’t pray like you’re writing a letter to Santa Claus.
