Market Close 15 Feb 18: Local shares posted their best one-day gain of the year after the ASX 200 rose by 1.16%

Mining and Energy sectors improved the most, while banks were well supported except for the CBA, which went ex-div yesterday. The Aussie dollar is at 79.40 US cents having advanced on the back of encouraging employment numbers released earlier.
