US Close 4 Jul 16: US markets higher- Aussie election uncertainty likely to mean quiet trading

US sharemarkets rallied for the fourth straight session on Friday. The strong manufacturing data supported sentiment. Seven of the 10 major S&P sectors were higher. The S&P consumer discretionary sector led the gains, up 0.9%. The financial sector was the worst performer losing 0.5%.
