Hiking Germany’s Malerweg with Alexandra Koken

The Malerweg, also known as “The Painter’s Way” is a fairly easy-going 112km hike in east Germany’s Elbe Valley, and is most well-known for being the inspiration behind several Romantic painter’s naturalist landscape paintings. On this episode we speak to Alexandra Koken, who shares with us her 8-day experience hiking the trail and what makes it one of her favourite treks to this day. After watching the movie Wild starring Reese Witherspoon, Alexandra decided she wanted to make some changes to her lifestyle and began walking on the weekends while living in London, UK. From there, her love for walking and hiking adventures spiraled.
