74: Transforming Lives Through The Science Of Colour - An Interview With Helen Irlen

In this special edition of The Inner Edge, I interview a remarkable woman who made an incredible discovery over 40 years ago.  This discovery has the power to radically improve the lives of about 25% of the population.  That means it could be you, or someone close to you.  What she discovered is now called Irlen Syndrome.

My daughter Jane was diagnosed with Irlen when she was 12 and it has transformed her life in many ways.

The purpose of this interview is to help increase the awareness of Irlen Syndrome everywhere because there are children and adults in your life who need to become aware of this.  It is the dyslexia of our time, it's real and there is a proven way of helping people.

  • As Helen explains in our conversation, there are 2 key steps 1. Getting screened for Irlen and then 2. Getting a definite diagnosis on the colour.  In our experience, there are many great people who can help with the screening and you can connect with them through the main Irlen website and if you're Irish through this website, www.irlen.ie
  • Important:  Our experience on the Diagnosis has been that the results will vary hugely depending on the equipment the diagnostician uses and the way the tests are done, because this will determine the exact colour of the Irlen spectral tints.  The best person we have found for this stage is Alan Penn, who is based in the UK.  He showed us the MASSIVE difference in getting the colour 90% right and 100% right for Jane.
