In this episode of Cycling in Alignment I sit down with one of my best friends, Olympian Travis Brown, to discuss the training manifesto written by Nils van der Poel “How to Skate a 10K …and also a half 10k”. For both of us, there are a lot of interesting takeaways from this detailed disclosure of the final 2.5 years of training Nils did before his victories in the 10KM and 5KM Olympic speedskating events in Beijing. There are many crossovers to cycling, including the fact that for months, Nils rode his bike about 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. I hope you enjoy our analysis and Travis’ perspective on this insightful look into one man’s successful quest to win Olympic gold.
