Financial planning, particularly estate coordination and legacy planning, has been a taboo topic for families. 

 

All too often, women are left out of the planning process. Their invaluable opinions and involvement in the financial planning process are commonly dismissed. 

 

A generation-to-generation conversation about financial planning is even more challenging to do. Talking to your parents or grandparents about who gets what once they pass just doesn’t sit well with most families.   

 

Vanessa Martinez, named as 2020 Forbes Best-in-state Advisors and Barron's 2020 Top Women Financial Advisors, believes that it is important to educate and empower women not only to be involved in the family’s financial planning but also for more women to be professionals and investors in finance. 

 

For their book, Family Value at Risk, they also aim to spread the importance of intentional and inclusive communication between families when it comes to financial planning.
