The European Parliament will today vote on the EU-Canada Trade deal known as CETA. This morning MEPs debated the pros and cons of the Comprehensive and Economic Trade Agreement. Those in favour of it say it will be open up positive trade opportunities with Canada and boost EU economies. Those against it say it’s bad for workers, the environment and the agricultural industry and that it favours big corporations. The Sinn Fein MEP Matt Carthy has long been against the CETA deal which is expected to be endorsed by the majority of MEPs.
