A new EU law to deal with Unfair Trading Practices in the food supply chain could be in place next year.

It is after the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee backed the move this week.

Farmers will be able to complain to an authority, in confidence, which must act and investigate the claims of UTPs.

Vice President of the European Parliament, and Fine Gael MEP for Midlands North-West, Mairead McGuinness, believes it is an issue that has to be addressed:
