An update on crop progress & looking ahead to the Fed meeting

  • Limited plantings for some key commodities like corn and sugar beets
  • Slowest start in years for sugar and probably two weeks behind where we ought to be
  • More rain on the way through this weekend for parts of the upper Midwest 
• Fed
  • Meeting starts Tuesday of next week with decision on rates coming May 4
  • Likely to raise rates by 50 basis points 
  • Recession appears to be around the corner?
