When Lisa Haderlein saw that Congressman Darin LaHood did not have an opponent in the 16th District Congressional race in Illinois, she wondered why? So, she contacted local Democratic party officials in the district and volunteered to be the candidate. A city council member in Harvard, Illinois, located in McHenry County. Lisa's background is in conservation where she has run a small non-profit organization dedicated to conservation. Naturally, one of the issues that drove her to run for Congress is the environment. In a conversation with WKEI however, Lisa stated that the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade was also a deciding factor in her decision to run for office.
