Kelleher urges EU energy bills “cushion”

Europe must protect businesses and households from sky-high energy prices as it weens off Russian gas – that’s the demand of Fianna Fáil MEP, Billy Kelleher. The European Commission is due to announce its plans tomorrow with a speech in Strasbourg. It is thought the EU will set out how excessive profits by energy companies can be clawed back. Billy Kelleher wants to see an end to imports of Russian gas altogether. But he says the EU should be ready to protect our companies and households from the impact it will have.
